The MSX index closed at 4,866.48 points, down by 0.66 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.27 per cent at 493.65 points.
Dhofar Generating, up 8.89 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Anwar Investment, down 4.44 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Sohar International Bank were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 688 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.63 million, with more than 15.77 million shares changing hands. Out of 49 traded securities, 12 advanced, 14 declined, and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR177,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR109,000, followed by domestic investors for OMR68,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,894.08 points, down 0.57 per cent. Prices of Oman Arab Bank, Oman United Insurance, Al Madina Takaful, DIDIC, and Oman & Emirates Investment were up by 4.00 per cent, 3.57 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 1.25 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Al Sharqia Investment, Sohar International Bank, Ominvest and Bank Muscat were down by 5.26 per cent, 3.80 per cent, 1.82 per cent, 1.41 per cent and 1.01 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,364.01 points, up 0.11 per cent. Prices of National Aluminium, Jazeera Steel Products, Oman Cement, Oman Refreshment, and Abrasives Manufacturing were up by 5.26 per cent, 1.82 per cent, 0.66 per cent and 0.30 per cent respectively. Prices of Raysut Cement, Galfar Engineering and Al Maha Ceramics were down by 0.66 per cent, 0.57 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively.
Services Index was down by 0.41 per cent before closing at 1,586.75 points. Prices of Dhofar Generating was up by 8.89 per cent. Prices of Ooredoo, National Gas, Al Jazeera Services, Oman Telecom, and Al Maha Marketing were down by 2.33 per cent, 1.87 per cent, 1.48 per cent, 0.86 per cent and 0.44 per cent respectively.
